In Part 1, we learned about preparing for your dog park experience to ensure you and your dog are ready for play. Now that you’ve taken the appropriate steps to prepare for your park visit, ensure you have all the right supplies and find the best dog parks in North Brevard County.
What to Bring to the Dog Park
Before you head out the door, make sure your dog has their collar on with any current identification and vaccination tags. Even if you are heading to an off-leash dog park, it is essential to always to carry a leash to enter and exit the dog park safely and for any emergencies you may encounter during playtime.
Running around with furry friends can be exhausting! Pack plenty of water with a water bowl so your dog stays hydrated.
Treats are another must-have item for your park pack. Treats are a great tool to reward good behavior and redirect undesired behaviors. Yummy goodies can also help bring your dog’s attention back to you when it’s time to leave, but they are begging for just five more minutes of playtime.
If your dog enjoys sharing, bring some fetch toys or tennis balls for extra exercise and enrichment. Many dog parks provide waste bags or cleanup stations, but make sure to have spare bags on hand just in case none are available.
First aid kits are a smart item to keep with you in case of unforeseen emergencies at the dog park. We suggest this compact first aid kit with various medical care items. Pack a towel to protect your car from muddy paws after playtime.
Designate a small bag or backpack to put all of these items in for a quick and easy grab-and-go dog park pack.
