Preparation for Play at the Dog Park

Before you set your paws in motion to head to the dog park, ensure you and your pup are prepared to play! Dog parks are an excellent place to work on socialization skills, but it is crucial to make sure that your dog is comfortable around other dogs of all sizes.

If your dog is fearful, it could result in a fight or flight response that could have the potential to cause harm to you, your dog, or other visitors.

If you are going to an off-leash dog park, make sure that your dog knows basic commands and will come back to you on command. Lastly, check for posted park-specific rules and regulations about identification, licensing, and vaccinations before entering a dog park.

These regulations exist for the health and safety of all visitors. A little preparation for play can go a long way toward ensuring that your dog has a positive and safe experience at the dog park.
