The Space Coast is one of the most festive and fur-friendly places to celebrate the holidays. From twinkling light parades to outdoor markets and year-end parties, pets are welcome at many community events throughout Viera, Rockledge, Melbourne, Suntree, Cocoa Village, and Merritt Island. Whether you want to stroll through holiday lights, grab photos with Santa Paws, or ring in the New Year under the stars, there’s something for every two- and four-legged family member this season.
Below are some of the best pet-friendly holiday events from November 2025 through January 2026, along with tips on keeping your companion safe, happy, and festive all season long.
Woof, Wag & Wiggle in Melbourne
Kick off the season early with the Woof, Wag & Wiggle festival on November 1, 2025, at Wickham Park Pavilion in Melbourne. Hosted by the Brevard Humane Society, this annual event celebrates pets with costume contests, agility demos, local vendors, food trucks, and plenty of treats for pups and humans alike. It’s the perfect social warm-up for the holiday season and a great way to meet fellow pet parents in the community.
If your day fills up fast, consider Drop-in Home Pet Visits from Space Coast Pet Services so your pets never miss their meals or playtime, even while you’re out enjoying local festivities.
Viera Pet-Friendly Holiday Festival & Parade
Viera’s biggest seasonal celebration, the Viera Holiday Festival & Parade, returns the first weekend of December at The Avenue Viera. Expect live music, local school marching bands, craft vendors, and Santa’s grand arrival. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are welcome along the parade route and in outdoor vendor areas. Arrive early to snag a shaded viewing spot, and bring water and collapsible bowls for your pup.
For dogs who prefer calmer environments, Space Coast Pet Services’ Family-Style Dog Boarding offers a cozy, home-like setting, so your pet can have their own holiday “paw-cation” while you enjoy the crowd.
Cocoa Village Holiday Boat Parade
Few Florida traditions feel as magical as the Cocoa Village Holiday Boat Parade, where illuminated vessels drift down the Indian River decorated in dazzling lights and music. This family-friendly spectacle typically happens the second weekend of December, and spectators line the waterfront with lawn chairs, picnic blankets, and leashed pets.
Find a quiet patch along the riverwalk to watch the glowing procession, and pack ear protection or calming treats if your pet is sensitive to loud sounds. It’s one of the Space Coast’s most scenic holiday experiences, and yes, many pups come dressed in festive collars and light-up leashes.
Suntree Rotary “Light Up the Night”
In mid-December, Suntree Rotary Park transforms into a sparkling wonderland for the Light Up the Night celebration. Visitors can stroll through twinkling displays, listen to carolers, and snap photos with Santa Paws beneath thousands of lights. Pets are welcome on leash, and the event often features local rescues and adoption booths.
It’s also a perfect chance to schedule a Pet Taxi ride home for your pet from Space Coast Pet Services if you’d rather skip parking hassles or have multiple stops on your evening itinerary.
Holiday Kickoff Weekend at Brevard Zoo – Melbourne
The Brevard Zoo Holiday Kickoff Weekend, happening November 30 – December 1, 2025, blends festive fun with conservation education. The zoo is pet-friendly for service animals only. However, pet parents can still get involved by visiting the outdoor gift shop or attending after-hours fundraising events that support local wildlife.
If you’re exploring the zoo without your companion, SCPS’s Drop-in Home Pet Visits ensure they stay relaxed and cared for at home. With meal breaks, cuddles, and playtime built in, everyone enjoys the day.
Merritt Island Holiday Illumination Celebration
On December 13, 2025, Merritt Island will glow brightly for the Annual Holiday Illumination Celebration, presented by Community Advocacy for Merritt Island (CAMI). This family-focused evening runs from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the expanded Brevard Veterans Memorial Center Park and Amphitheater, bringing the community together for a heartfelt night of light, music, and remembrance.
The highlight of the evening is the Community and Gold Star Family Tree Illumination, honoring local heroes and families who have served. Visitors can also enjoy live entertainment, kids’ games, food trucks, and festive booths that create a warm, small-town holiday feel. Leashed pets are welcome to join their families for the outdoor fun, making this one of the most inclusive and meaningful celebrations on the Space Coast.
To make the night even smoother, consider booking a Pet Taxi with Space Coast Pet Services for convenient, local transportation to and from the event. Whether you’re meeting friends or bringing the whole family, it’s an easy way to avoid parking congestion while keeping your furry companion safe and comfortable.
Tips for Enjoying Pet-Friendly Holiday Events
- Keep pets leashed and tagged. Even calm animals can get startled by lights or music.
- Pack water and snacks. Hydration and familiar treats help them feel secure.
- Watch for heat. Florida evenings can stay warm; avoid hot pavement and bring shade for daytime events.
- Respect event rules. Follow signage for pet areas and clean up promptly.
According to the American Pet Products Association, 66 percent of U.S. households, about 86.9 million homes, now include at least one pet. With so many animal companions joining holiday outings, services like Pet Taxi make it easier than ever to coordinate safe, comfortable transportation to and from local festivities.
